Pre-Ballet

*Ages 2-3*

This dance class is designed for new students of dance and it involves the fundamentals of ballet. The young dancers will learn to be aware of their body, move to music, flexibility, and rhythmic movements (choreography). The dancers also explore tumbling. This class is a great way for children to acquire discipline, self-esteem, body awareness, goal-setting, and artistic expression.

 

Mondays, 6-7pm

$15 drop-in, $10 each class with monthly enrollment

Creative Movement

*Ages 4-7*

The basic techniques demonstrated in this class are ballet, tumbling, interpretive, modern, jazz, and hip hop dance. Each student will gain self-confidence, discipline, poise, good posture, and have a lot of fun while doing so. With this class they will launch well into their career of dance, as this is a good foundation that serves as a prerequisite to whatever dance training they want to take an interest in in the future. This class is a great way for children to fine-tune and enhance their discipline, self-esteem, body awareness, goal-setting, and artistic expression.

Junior Modern Dance

*Ages 7-11*

A prerequisite to Modern Dance, this class enhances a child's skill set through focused dance moves and mature choreography. Attention-to-detail, discipline, and technique must be learned and demonstrated. Each dancer will also discover their inner creator and learn to understand body movement through music.

Modern Dance

Modern dance is not only an enjoyable and beautiful performing art; it is beneficial for the soul. It can help you connect your body and mind, benefiting you outside of the dance room too. A recent study by the University of Wolverhampton in the UK found that individuals experienced short-term mood boosts after participating in a modern dance class. Findings like these are why modern dance is frequently incorporated into dance therapy and movement-therapy programs. Modern dance is about connecting the body and emotions. It is a nice outlet for expressing yourself and sorting out whatever life hiccups you are currently facing.

Even if you are a seasoned dancer in other forms of dance, it is a good idea to start with a modern dance class for beginners. An understanding of the basic moves will give you a nice base for more advanced classes and provide you with insight into the philosophy and style of the dance.

Fierce Fitness: a Dance Workout

This class was designed by the Artistic Director, Chondra, based off her experience in the marching band with the Golden Feline Danceline while in college. The first part of class involves warm-up exercises and toning & strengthening drills. The second part of the class ties in some easy-to-follow sassy dance moves to old school band and upbeat music that will work your body, sculpting it into a toned physique. This class will definitely make you "feel the burn!"
